The Asian American Business Association (AABA) will be hosting the second-annual Asian Culture Festival September 25th during the traditional time of the Chinese Mid-Autumn (Moon) Festival. The event will be held at the Court Square in Newnan from 11:00am to 4:00pm and the opening ceremony will begin at 12:00 pm.
The festival features local vendor-booths, selling a variety of merchandise, food, and beverages; including concessions dedicated to promoting various aspects of Asian culture. Many local non-profit organizations will be in attendance, joined by various artists, dance and cultural performance groups, including live performances.
New to the festival this year, the Taipei Economics and Cultural Office (TECO) will be sponsoring a photo exhibition entitled “Taiwan Sublime”. The exhibit, opening on the day of the festival, showcases the work of four professional Taiwanese photographers, and is co-sponsored by the AABA and the Cultural Art Commission of Newnan City. The exhibit will be hosted at the Panoply Decorating Shop.
In an effort to increase awareness of the Far East culture, the Asian Culture Festival offers many opportunities for new business relationships and cultural exchange. We wish to invite the entire community, and those in the surrounding area to join with us, and help celebrate the Asian Culture Festival in downtown Newnan this year.

PRNewswire/ -- Talent scouts for the "My Big Redneck" television series that airs on Country Music Television will be searching for future show participants for three upcoming programs this weekend at the Powers' Crossroads Country Fair and Art Festival in Newnan, Ga.
Held every year on the 100 acres of historic Powers Plantation in Newnan, Ga., near Franklin, Ga., the Powers' Crossroads Festival will open for its 38th consecutive year at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, and will wrap up at 5 p.m. Labor Day afternoon, Sept. 1.
"The producers, Pink Sneakers Productions of Apopka, Fla., told me they plan to have talent scouts on the Festival grounds on Sunday, Aug. 31, and Monday, Sept. 1," said Carol Chancey, the festival's executive director.

"Redneck Christmas" focuses on heart-warming families with wacky traditions and decorations that might include shotgun shell ornaments, monster truck tree toppers or rockin' reindeer games.
Scheduled festival activities include the traditional Rising Star competition on Saturday morning, a contemporary Christian music concert sponsored by radio station J93.3, WVFJ-FM, Atlanta on Sunday afternoon, and an encore performance by the Rising Star competition winners and the Miss Coweta County Pageant, a preliminary event for the Miss West Georgia competition in January 2009, on Monday afternoon.

Grantville Days Set For Sept. 27 & 28
Grantville Day was established in the 1990s as the City's annual community festival. During the past few years it has undergone several changes but the character of it remains about the same. Last year the date was changed from the traditional (super-hot) second Saturday in June to the balmy end of September, and its name was changed to The New Grantville Days Festival not only because of the month change but also because it was held on TWO days (Saturday and Sunday) instead of one.
This year the festival will also be held for two days -- Saturday and Sunday -- and the dates will be the end of September -- 27 & 28, but the name will be changed again, this time to "Grantville Days Crosstie Festival". The "Crosstie" refers to the railroad tracks, which is not suprising because Grantville is named after Mr. L.P. Grant, who was the Railroad President during the late 19th century. Also, the railroad freight depot is used by Grantville Day, mainly for the music.
The Grantville Day Chairman, Sandra Luttrell, has announced that applications are now open for vendors -- food vendors as well as arts/crafts/antiques vendors -- and that she is the one to contact. She can be reached by email at sangalasands@aol.com, or by phone [at 770-583-2147 (business) or 770-583-9013 (home) or 770-304-6014] or by dropping in at her Luttrell's Family Restaurant on Main Street in Grantville.
Luttrell has also announced that she is now selling ads for the Grantville Day brochure, which is an 8 1/2 " x 11 " booklet containing the Grantville Day program and various other items of information about Grantville and Grantville Day. She can be reached for info on this by phone or email or in person. The rates for the ads are $400 for a full page ad, $200 for a half page ad, $100 for a quarter page ad and $57 for am eighth page ad. All area businesses are invited to take out ads in the booklet. Just mail in your ad along with a check to Luttrell at 276 LaGrange Street, Grantville, GA 30220.
There are many events being planned for Grantville Day. Announcements will be made about each of them when they are finalized.
Grantville is a small city in southern Coweta County located at Exit 35 on Interstate 85.

Participants must provide their own tables, chairs, signage, decorations, coolers, extension cords, serving utensils, brochures on the organization, etc. Paper goods will be provided at registration by Main Street Newnan which includes 400+ each of spoons, napkins, and 5 ounce bowls.
Prices for ice cream are set at $1.00 for one scoop.
“I encourage citizens to come down and sample these tasty summer treats. You will not be disappointed. In the past, we have had the classic ice cream flavors, and we’ve also had the creative, very interesting flavors. It’s a lot of fun,” continued Cartledge.
In addition to the Homemade Ice Cream Festival, Main Street Newnan will also host Market Days on the Square from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on July 5th. Approximately 55 vendors set up around the square to offer items handmade, homegrown, or homemade.
