Final Week to Apply for Chamber's Leadership Coweta Program

The Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce continues to accept applications for the 2009-2010 Leadership Coweta class through the end of this week. Applications are due by 5pm Friday, July 31.

Leadership Coweta provides a unique learning experience for emerging and existing leaders by offering an intense curriculum that trains, empowers, and supports leaders so that they can effect positive community change. The program also creates an awareness of comprehensive community issues and opportunities and features interaction with key community and elected
leaders. This communitywide comprehensive leadership program meets once a month September through March.

During these tough economic times, it's important to put people in places to make connections, build relationships, and to become better equipped to make decisions. Leadership Coweta provides a great opportunity to do just that. Over the seven months, class members examine virtually all aspects of life in our County, including education, leadership, community and economic conditions, infrastructure, environmental improvement, daily life and convenience, growth, community safety, arts and culture, and healthcare.

"Leadership Coweta was a great experience for me, and I'm delighted at the level of interest and engagement that continues for this program," said Bill Blackmon, Georgia Power Company and chairperson of the Leadership Coweta program. "One of the best aspects of Leadership Coweta is that while the curriculum gives a fantastic overview of life here in Coweta County, we can
adapt it each year to reflect the changing needs and circumstances that affect our community. This year, we've added more about managing our community's growth and about the arts and culture resources that are here and how they play into our quality of life."

To learn more about Leadership Coweta contact the Chamber at 770.253.2270 or go to www.newnancowetachamber.org to download an application.

With almost 700 members throughout Coweta County, the Newnan-Coweta Chamber
of Commerce is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing economic prosperity for all Coweta's citizens. As the county's largest business organization, the Chamber works to provide business leadership to foster an economic and cultural climate favorable to all
business, in order to create a higher quality of life for all residents.
